Beruchim Habaim! Welcome to all. My name is Nathan Fein and my wife Naomi and I are thrilled to be the Av and Em Bayit of the Yeshiva. Each week, in this space, I will try to summarize the boys’ week and share with you what the guys are doing.
Wednesday afternoon was an exciting time for all of us as we welcomed the Yeshiva’s third class. We picked the bulk of them up from the New York flight , loaded them on the bus, their luggage ( with 3 exceptions) on the truck and were off to the Yeshiva. The Torontonians would join us several hours later. By Wednesday evening, however, we were all assembled. After a short orientation by our Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Reichel and many of the Rabanim, we took our first tiyul as a Yeshiva to the only appropriate place for the boys to go first. – the Kotel. After a moving visit and a very meaningful Maariv, the exhausted group of guys returned home.
Thursday was highlighted by a trip to the Tayelet for a scenic overview of Yerushalayim. We then traveled to Ir David , where new discoveries are made on a daily basis. It is always a wonderful experience to see the exact sight of King David's capital 3,000 years ago. The boys got to cool off with a walk through the cold water filled Chizkiyahu’s tunnel before retuning home to the Yeshiva. After dinner, we had what we call an “ice breaker” session where the boys got the chance to meet and get to know one another.
We are all desperately looking forward to a restful Shabbat after a hectic yet exciting week. This is an in-Shabbat and all the boys will be in the Yeshiva. We hope they catch up on their sleep and rest as we have a wonderful week planned for them next week. On behalf of my wife, Naomi and the entire staff at Shvilei , we would like to welcome the boys and their families to our “Shvilei family” and wish all of you a Shabbat shalom u’mevorach!
