What a great week here at Shvilei. While we had our usual wonderful week of activites , tiyulim and solid learning, the joy at the Yeshiva was enhanced by the presence of our visiting alumni as they returned to their home in Yerushalayim.
Our weekly tiyul, on Monday, was to the Gush Katif museum in the Machane Yehudah neighborhood of Jerusalem. The museum is a small tribute to the community that was, the expulsion, and its aftermath. The talmidim were treated to a tour of the museum by a former resident and farmer who lost everything four years ago. It was a moving and inspirational opportunity.
Wednesday afternoon we were treated to an inspirational sicha from Rabbi Ronn Yaish, the program director of Camp HASC. He spoke to the Talmidim about their ability to change the world for the campers over the summer with the chessed that they could do for two months at camp.
On Wednesday evening, we held our monthly va’ad; this time with Rav Mann and Dr. Moshe Kuhr. The talmidim came back with great stories about their night out.
Thursday night’s Mishmar was not only well attended, but in honor of our alumni joining us we added chicken wings and potato kugel to our normal cholent. This Shabbat is a Shabbat chofshi with many of the talmidim visiting relatives and family friends.
Shabbat shalom
